Florida State upsets Duke 76-73

Florida State handed Duke their first ACC loss with a buzzer beater by junior Michael Snaer. Snaer was their second leading scorer vs Duke with 14 points. Florida State was ultimately led by Senior Center Xavier Gibson who had 16 points and 5 rebounds. Duke outscored the Seminoles 32-26 in the first half, but then Florida State overpowered Duke in the second half outscoring them 50-41. Duke had a steady offense with 4 players in double digits, (led by Austin Rivers 19), but they could not defend Florida State at the end of the game. The main difference in this game was the field goal percentage. Duke shot 40% from the field, and Florida State shot an incredible 54% from the field. This game was very even in every other category, as there was no rebounding advantage or major turnover advantage. This is a disappointing loss for the Blue Devils as this is the second game they have dropped to a non ranked team in the past month(Temple Owls is the other team). Duke needs to win out to be able to most likely get a number 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. This victory for Florida State puts them at 13-6 for the year and 4-1 in the ACC. This win will most likely put the Seminoles in the top 25 as they also beat UNC by 33 points one week ago. The Seminoles next game is against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on January 25th . This loss for Duke puts them at 16-3 for the season and also 4-1 in the ACC. Duke next game is away against the Maryland Terrapins on January 25th.
