NCAA Tournament Recap: #10 USC vs #2 Michigan State
No. 2 Michigan State (28-6) 74 No. 10 USC (22-13) 69 Key Moment: The Spartans Travis Walton hit a jumper with 3:40 to play to break a 69-69 tie. USC never scored again.
High Point Scorers: Michigan State -- Walton 18 USC -- Dwight Lewis 19
Analysis: At this time of the year, it doesn't matter where you get it, just as long as you get it. Walton, who averaged only 4.9 points this year, scored double figures for only the fifth time season, a season high. It was typical of a Michigan State game with 39 fouls. But the Spartans showed a little more toughness in the final four minutes.
What's Next: The Spartans advance to the Sweet 16 in Indianapolis where they will meet No. 3 seed Kansas, which handled Dayton, 60-43. This is a rematch of the Jan. 10 meeting East Lansing that Michigan State won, 75-62. But the Jayhawks are a much different team now than they were then. Expect a great matchup at the guard position between Michigan State's Kalin Lucas and KU's Sherron Collins. The game will decided on the backboards.
